Product description
The module transmits and receives radio signals at 315 MHz and is suitable for wireless data connections over medium distances. In open terrain, it achieves ranges of up to 100 m; indoors, the distance is reduced considerably depending on the wall materials and furnishings. ASK modulation (amplitude shift keying) transmits digital data with low bandwidth, making it suitable for simple switching commands or sensor measurements with low data volumes.
The module is connected via the SPI interface and operates with a supply voltage between 3.3 V and 5 V. This allows it to be connected directly to common microcontroller boards without level shifting, provided they also use 3.3 V or 5 V. The integrated frequency crystal requires no subsequent adjustment, so calibration is not necessary.
Typical applications include wireless remote controls for devices, control of model vehicles or aircraft, wireless monitoring of sensors in gardens and on properties, and the implementation of simple alarm systems for prototypes. When multiple modules transmit simultaneously on the same frequency, collisions are avoided through suitable communication protocols in the software.
Microcontroller software and a suitable antenna are required for commissioning. The 315 MHz frequency is regulated differently depending on the region; in some countries, the frequency band is not approved for use or is subject to power limitations. Before use, compliance with local radio regulations should be checked.
