Product description

A charger with a voltage converter uses the low voltage of a lithium battery and converts it to a stable 5 V. The circuit combines charging management and a boost converter in a single component, eliminating the need to source these functions separately.

The module accepts an input voltage between 2.5 V and 4.2 V, as occurs when charging and discharging a lithium cell, and provides a stable 5 V output with up to 2 A. The integrated protection circuit prevents the battery from being deeply discharged or overcharged, ensuring a safe service life.

In portable devices such as LED lights or data loggers, the module enables the use of a single lithium cell while larger consumers receive their usual 5 V. In systems with solar panels, the module is used to charge the battery while simultaneously operating sensors or microcontroller boards at a constant voltage. In battery-backed IoT devices, the charger operates independently, even if the power supply temporarily fails.

A lithium battery is required for operation; neither a power supply for the circuit itself nor an external charger is needed. The maximum output load should not exceed 2 A; otherwise, the voltage will drop or the module will switch off. The board has no enclosure, so insulation against short circuits must be provided during installation.

Safety instructions

Lithium batteries must not be connected with reversed polarity; reverse polarity will destroy the module and may cause fires. The module is intended exclusively for prototypes and testing and development purposes, not for installation in the household electrical system. If you are unsure how to integrate it into more complex systems with mains voltage, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
