Description

Product Overview

  • Passive speaker without built-in drive electronics
  • Tone pitch freely adjustable via signal frequency; requires an AC signal (for example, PWM)
  • Operating voltage: 5 V
  • Two breadboard-compatible pins with a pitch of approx. 7 mm
  • Polarity does not matter; either connection order works
  • Electromagnetic transducer with a coil in a plastic housing

Product Description

This passive speaker differs from an active buzzer in that it contains no built-in electronics for generating sound. A microcontroller must apply an AC signal to the buzzer so that the coil in the plastic housing vibrates and produces a tone. The signal is usually supplied by a PWM output on the microcontroller.

The tone pitch depends solely on the frequency of the applied signal. This allows you to program different tones using the same component without changing the hardware. You can create sequences of beeps, simple melodies, or alarm signals, which is not possible with active buzzers that produce only a fixed tone.

The two pins have a pitch of about 7 mm and fit directly into standard breadboards. Since polarity does not matter, you can connect the pins in either order to the microcontroller’s signal pin and ground. The module is suitable for both rapid prototyping and educational projects involving microcontroller programming, where you control outputs and generate different signal frequencies.

A 5 V power supply is required, which is provided by common microcontroller boards such as Arduino. No separate external power source is needed. This component is intended exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development.

Safety Notice

The module is not intended for use with mains electricity or mains voltage and is designed exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development. Work on or near electrical installations must be performed by qualified electricians. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before use.
