Product Description
The 1602 LCD module is a two-line display for alphanumeric content that connects to 5 V logic systems. With 16 characters per line and two lines in total, it can display measured values, statuses, or messages in a readable size. The blue backlighting with white text also works reliably under unfavorable lighting conditions.
The module uses the widely used HD44780 controller architecture and can be controlled via parallel 4-bit or 8-bit data connections. This allows it to be integrated into standard Arduino boards and similar 5 V platforms without a level shifter. Depending on the configuration, the parallel interface requires between eight and fourteen connections, but reduces the number of available pins on the microcontroller significantly less than serial alternatives.
Typical applications include status displays in measurement projects, temperature controllers, digital clocks, or mobile data loggers where compact, reliable output is required. This module is well suited to prototypes with limited space and to project setups where direct confirmation of inputs or measured values should be visible.
Operation requires a suitable controller module or microcontroller with available digital pins, as well as a power supply with regulated 5 V. An optional potentiometer adjusts the contrast. The backlighting draws additional current depending on the operating state, so the power supply should be adequately dimensioned for longer operating periods.
