Product description
An AC current sensor measures current consumption in control cabinets and enables the protection of electrical equipment through programmable overcurrent detection thresholds. The sensor operates according to the current transformer principle and is galvanically isolated, keeping the measurement electronics isolated from the high voltages of the main circuit.
The signal is output via I2C or RS485 directly to process controllers or data loggers, enabling central monitoring of multiple circuits. Currents of up to 100 A are measured with an accuracy of ±2 %. If an adjustable limit is exceeded, the module immediately reports this abnormality, allowing a shutdown to be initiated quickly in automation systems.
Typical applications include machine control systems, where the current consumption of drives is monitored to detect winding damage caused by blockages at an early stage. In stationary power supply systems, the module also serves as a fault indicator to signal short circuits or overload conditions in good time. Current profile data is continuously recorded for maintenance documentation.
The 24 V DC supply voltage is provided separately. The current transformers must be integrated into the AC main circuit; therefore, specialist knowledge of electrical installation is required.
