Product Description
The L293D driver controls DC motors and stepper motors in a compact form. The module contains all the H-bridge electronics for two independent motor outputs or, alternatively, for operating one stepper motor.
Each output supports up to 600 mA of continuous current and switches voltages from 4.5 to 36 volts. The control inputs use 5 V TTL-compatible logic levels. Since the IC itself consumes very little current, even basic microcontroller outputs can control it. PWM signals allow the motor speed to be adjusted continuously without switching the power supply.
Applications include robot chassis with two motorized wheels, where both motors can run independently in forward and reverse, as well as sorting systems that use a stepper motor for positioning. It can also be used to build model vehicles or simple automation projects with motor control.
The motor supply is separate from the board's logic supply, preventing voltage spikes from reaching the electronics. Connections are made via solder pins or, alternatively, solder pads. The motor voltage must be supplied externally, so an additional power supply capable of providing the required current is necessary.
Safety Notice
The module is not intended for installation in household electrical wiring. It is intended exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development. Ensure the power supply polarity is correct; a short circuit between the supply and ground will damage the IC. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians. If you are unsure about commissioning, consult a qualified electrician.
