Product Description
The eight-finger gripper is a modular end effector for robot arms. Its independently controllable fingers enable precise gripping of objects in different shapes and sizes. The acrylic construction makes it lightweight and easy to maintain, while the individual fingers can be controlled separately to achieve adaptive or multi-stage gripping patterns.
The gripper operates using separate drive channels for each finger, allowing more complex gripping techniques in addition to simple two-point grips. This requires a corresponding number of outputs on the robot controller: multiple PWM channels for servo control and multiple solenoid valves for pneumatic control. The acrylic construction is subject to little wear, but it cannot withstand high mechanical impact loads and should be protected from liquids and solvents.
Possible applications include handling parts during assembly tasks, sorting materials of different shapes, and pick-and-place applications involving variable object geometries. For example, in a packaging line, the system enables targeted gripping and positioning of containers for which a rigid two-point gripper would be too large or too inflexible.
Integration requires a robot arm with sufficient load capacity for the total gripper weight and enough control channels for all eight fingers. Depending on the drive type, an appropriate power supply or compressed-air supply must be ensured. Maximum gripping forces are limited by the mechanical geometry and the respective control medium.
Safety Information
The acrylic components are not impact-resistant and may break under mechanical overload; use in applications requiring explosion protection is prohibited. This gripper module is intended exclusively for the construction and testing of robot prototypes and for development purposes. Work on the robot system or its energy supply, whether electrical or pneumatic, may only be carried out by a qualified electrician or an appropriately trained specialist. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
