Product Description
This infrared sensor uses eight optical sensors arranged side by side to detect obstacles at short range or follow dark lines on a light surface. Each channel operates independently and provides a digital signal.
The sensors measure reflected infrared light. Each channel switches independently when an obstacle or dark area is detected. The eight separate outputs make it possible to determine the position of an object or line with high precision.
The module is used in driver-controlled systems designed to follow a line, as well as in robotic arms with grippers for object detection. It also works reliably as a barrier detector or for collision detection in confined spaces. In hobby applications, the module is often used to navigate autonomous vehicles on marked race tracks.
The module is usually placed directly in front of the object to be detected, so the range of two to three centimeters is completely sufficient. The operating voltage between 3.3 and 5 volts makes the module compatible with common development boards. Only a stable power supply is required for operation.
Safety Information
The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It is not suitable for permanent installation in households or for integration into household electrical circuits. If the operating conditions are unclear or you have insufficient experience with electronic components, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
