Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about microcontrollers

What is the difference between the UNO and the Nano?

Both use the ATmega328P and are programmed the same way. The UNO is larger and shield-compatible, the Nano is compact and breadboard-friendly.

Can I program the boards with the Arduino IDE?

Yes. Funduino boards are Arduino-compatible and are selected in the Arduino IDE just like an original UNO or Nano.

Which microcontroller is best for beginners?

To get started, we recommend the UNO R3, as it can be connected directly to jumper wires and shields without any soldering.

My computer doesn’t recognize the board – what should I do?

In most cases, the right USB-to-serial driver is missing. After installing it, the board appears as a COM port in the Arduino IDE.

Are the boards suitable for school lessons?

Yes. The UNO and Nano are widely used in STEM lessons, inexpensive and well documented thanks to numerous guides.

About this category

Microcontrollers for Arduino projects, school and prototyping

A microcontroller is the heart of almost every electronics project. It reads sensors, controls motors, LEDs and displays, and runs your program on its own, without a connected computer. In this category, you’ll find boards that are programmed with the Arduino IDE, giving you access to thousands of libraries and example projects.

The Funduino UNO R3 is the classic way to get started: robust, well documented and with headers that connect directly to shields and jumper wires. The Funduino Nano R3 offers the same ATmega328P processor in a compact format and plugs straight into a breadboard. It’s particularly well suited to space-saving setups and permanently installed projects.

For schools and training companies, both boards are a proven foundation for STEM lessons. You’ll also find matching sensors, modules and guides at Funduino.
