Product description
This sound sensor detects sound pressure levels up to 130 dB using an electret microphone with a downstream differential amplifier. The LM386 IC amplifies the weak microphone signal to levels that can be read directly by a microcontroller ADC, without requiring additional signal-conditioning circuits.
The sensor operates in the audio frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The analog output signal can be adjusted from 100 mV to 500 mV using the built-in potentiometer, allowing the measured values to be adapted to the controller's input voltage range. Calibration against known reference values is not possible; the module is used as a relative measuring instrument.
Applications include noise monitoring in music studios and halls, where levels need to be continuously monitored and triggers activated, as well as environmental noise detection for automatic control or alarm activation. It can also be used as an obstacle detection sensor in mobile robots that respond to airborne sound.
The operating voltage is between 4 and 5.5 V. The analog output is connected via standard headers and works with common microcontroller boards and single-board computers. No additional power supply is required for operation.
Safety information
The module must not be connected to the mains circuit. It is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. If you have any doubts about compatibility or connection procedures, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
