Product Description
The 6-axis accelerometer and angular-rate sensor simultaneously detects an object's orientation, rotational movement, and acceleration. The module integrates both measurement functions on a single circuit board, eliminating the need to align separate components with one another.
The sensors provide 16-bit values for each of the six axes, which are transmitted digitally to a microcontroller via I2C. The measurement range of both sensors is software-configurable: the gyroscope covers ±250 to ±2000°/s, while the accelerometer covers ±2 to ±16 g. This allows the module to adapt to both fine and fast, powerful movements. The integrated voltage regulator enables direct operation with 3.3 V and 5 V logic without additional level shifting.
A second I2C bus, brought out on the module as XDA and XCL, allows additional sensors such as a magnetometer to be connected without the main processor having to manage the communication. Two modules on the same main bus can be distinguished using the ADO pin. The built-in temperature sensor measures the chip temperature and is used to compensate for the other measurement values. The module is used for motion detection, stabilization of model aircraft or robots, and attitude control systems.
A microcontroller with I2C support and the communication library for the module are required. When operating with 5 V logic, check whether the module's inputs are designed for this voltage level.
Safety Information
The module is not intended for installation in household mains circuits and is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. Work on or near electrical installations is reserved for qualified electricians; please consult a qualified electrician before commissioning if anything is unclear.
