Product description
This stereo amplifier combines an amplifier stage with the AD828 operational amplifier and the TDA7379 power amplifier IC for two channels. The module accepts line-level signals through RCA inputs and outputs them to commonly available 4-ohm speakers. The integrated preamp electronics process the signals before they drive the speakers.
The supply voltage is between 12 and 18 V DC, making operation with laboratory power supplies or automotive 12-V power supplies convenient. With 4-ohm speakers, each channel delivers 38 W. A higher speaker impedance noticeably reduces the available power; very low impedances below 4 ohms are not permitted and will damage the power amplifier.
Possible applications include multimedia uses such as home cinema accessories, small PA systems, amplified speakers, and DIY amplifiers in enclosure projects. In all cases, the power supply must meet the requirements when the current under load reaches two or three amperes.
A regulated DC power source (12 to 18 V) is required; unregulated power supplies are not sufficient. The circuit board requires a heatsink or a low-speed fan to prevent excessive heat during continuous operation. The power leads from the power source should be sufficiently thick to prevent voltage drops.
