Product description
This digital audio amplifier based on a PAM8403 IC delivers 2*3 W output power at 4-ohm speakers and operates directly with the standard operating voltage of 5 V. The Class-D output stage ensures that very little energy is lost as heat, making the module ideal for battery- or USB-powered projects.
The audio signal is supplied via a 3.5 mm jack socket or alternative solder pins and must be connected to an audio output of a microcontroller board, single-board computer, or sound card. The two output channels drive the speakers independently, with each channel providing a maximum of 3 W.
Applications include portable music playback from mobile phones or microcontroller boards, simple audio alarm systems, speech output in robotics projects, or adding audio playback to a single-board computer. For example, a sound module can be added to a motion detector to play a warning when triggered.
The speakers must have an impedance of at least 4 ohms. Signal input requires either an audio output with a standard level range (up to approximately 1 V) or the ability to generate direct PWM signals from the microcontroller. For battery-powered devices, the power supply should use a stable 5 V output.
Safety notice
This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. For continuous loads or higher currents, the power supply must be adequately dimensioned; overloading will cause damage. Work on or near power lines is reserved for qualified electricians.
