Product description
An electronic speed controller of this size controls brushless motors in quadcopters and similar multicopters. The device converts the pulse-width modulation from the flight controller into three-phase drive current, thereby regulating the motor speed proportionally to the input voltage. With a maximum of 20 amperes and a design for 4-cell lithium batteries (14.8 to 16.8 volts), the device is in the lower power range for lightweight aircraft with motors rated at around 900 to 1200 kilowatts.
Programming is carried out via control pulses from the flight controller, eliminating the need for traditional programming devices. The built-in undervoltage protection automatically disconnects the motor as soon as the battery voltage falls below a safe level. This prevents deep discharge, protects the battery, and significantly extends its service life.
Typical applications include hobby photo quadcopters, small FPV drones for video transmission, and ultralight designs where every gram counts. With a weight of less than 25 grams, the module also fits into space-constrained airframes. Calibration is required before the first launch; afterward, the controller immediately adjusts the output as needed.
A flight controller or control unit that generates pulse-width modulation with a signal duration between 1 and 2 milliseconds is required. The motor phases can potentially be interchanged, but this changes the direction of rotation, so firmware adjustment is often necessary. Operation is only suitable with lithium batteries having the specified number of cells, as single-cell or 12-volt systems fall outside the switching characteristics.
Safety information
High currents and rapid switching sequences generate heat; adequate cooling airflow and sufficient installation space must be provided. This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not intended for electrical installations. Qualified electricians are not required; the module can be installed by knowledgeable model builders.
