Product Description
This CO2 sensor measures the carbon dioxide content of the air using a photoacoustic method: the air is exposed to light, and the resulting pressure fluctuations are measured by an integrated microphone. At the same time, built-in sensors provide temperature and humidity readings, which are used to correct the CO2 measurement and are also available for your own evaluations.
Connection is made via an I2C bus, allowing multiple sensors to be operated in parallel on a microcontroller with only four connection wires required. The supply voltage of 2.4 to 5.5 V enables connection to various controller boards without level shifting. After being switched on, the module requires a short time before it can be addressed on the bus.
Applications include indoor air monitoring, such as checking air quality in offices or classrooms, ventilation controls that regulate the supply of fresh air based on demand, and self-built weather and environmental stations where all three measurements are to be recorded together.
A microcontroller with an I2C interface and suitable connection wires are required. The sensor is supplied from the factory without any additional calibration and can begin retrieving measurement values immediately after startup.
Safety Information
The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes, not for installation in the household electrical circuit. When working on or near electrical installations, consult a qualified electrician.
