Product Description
This RGB LED on a circuit board combines three color channels in a single component and is suitable for signaling, status displays, or simple color effects. The three independently controllable light-emitting diodes for red, green, and blue are connected behind a common cathode; each color channel is supplied with current individually through its connection.
The LED generates all mixed colors by pulsing the three channels simultaneously or over time. For operation with 5 V logic, a current-limiting resistor is required for each color channel to control the maximum brightness and protect the LED from overloading.
Applications include status displays on controller boards, light feedback in prototypes, or color indicators in measurement data acquisition. The 10 mm diameter also makes the LED suitable for use in tighter installation spaces.
The circuit-board mounting enables easy integration into circuits; depending on the version, the LED is soldered or connected via a plug. Powering it from a PWM-capable output of a microcontroller requires a transistor or MOSFET as a switch for each channel.
Safety Notice
Reverse-polarity or overvoltage connections will permanently damage the LED. Not intended for direct connection to the household power supply. The LED is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes.
