Product description
A resistor limits the current in a circuit and converts excess electrical energy into heat. The set contains five values from 100 Ω to 10 kΩ, which are particularly often needed in practice and provide broad coverage for typical electronics projects.
Each resistor consists of a carbon film on a ceramic body; notches set the desired resistance value, which is indicated on the component by colored bands. The resistors have two straight wire leads and can be inserted directly into a breadboard or soldered onto a circuit board.
Typical applications include limiting current for LEDs, building voltage dividers for measurement voltages, and creating pull-up and pull-down circuits at the digital inputs of microcontrollers. A voltage divider with 100 Ω and 10 kΩ can, for example, adapt 5 V signals to 3.3 V logic.
Each resistor can handle a maximum power dissipation of 0.5 watts; exceeding this value may result in overheating and damage. Higher power levels require thick-film or wirewound resistors. The values included in the set are sufficient for learning and prototyping projects; specialized circuits may require additional values.
Safety information
These resistors are intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. They are not suitable for installation in household electrical circuits. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians; if anything is unclear, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning a circuit.
