Product description
A brushless motor controller (ESC) such as this one controls brushless DC motors, typically in multicopters, FPV drones, or RC models. The BLHeli-S firmware enables digital command transmission via the DSHOT600 protocol instead of a conventional PWM signal, reducing latency and significantly increasing the motor's response speed. Anyone working with this interface needs a compatible flight controller that also supports DSHOT600.
The controller is powered by lithium-polymer batteries between 3S and 6S (11.1 to 22.2 volts), covering the typical voltage ranges of drones and RC models. Depending on the version, the maximum permissible current rating differs; both variants are designed for their respective performance class. An integrated capacitor on the circuit board stabilizes brief voltage spikes. The XT60 connector allows the battery to be connected and disconnected easily without soldering.
It can be used with all models featuring brushless motors in the corresponding performance class, from smaller FPV quadcopters to sporty racing drones. It is also suitable for custom-built multicopters or RC aircraft with brushless drives, provided that the flight controller supports the DSHOT600 protocol. Hobbyists switching from older PWM-based controllers to digital control benefit from the noticeably faster motor response.
The motor is connected via the three thick phase wires; the direction of rotation can be reversed by swapping any two of these wires. Before initial operation, the flight controller's power supply and signal wire must be connected correctly. The firmware can be flashed using special programmers if adjustments are required.
Safety information
Lithium-polymer batteries require careful handling and must not be over-discharged or short-circuited. The device is intended exclusively for building models and prototypes, as well as for testing and development purposes. Work on or near electrical equipment is reserved for qualified electricians; if you are unsure about the correct wiring, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
