Product description
A capacitive proximity sensor detects objects without contact using electromagnetic fields, without requiring them to be conductive. This makes it suitable for detecting plastics, ceramics, liquids, and other non-conductive materials, as well as metals. The sensor is supplied with voltages between 10 and 30 V and outputs its detection result via an NPN transistor.
The sensor is available in versions with permanently configured normally closed or normally open contacts. Depending on the version, the connection to the control system is made via a standardized M12 connector or a permanently attached connection cable. This allows the sensor to be integrated into different cabinet arrangements or machine setups, depending on its design.
The detection distance is approximately 18 mm, making the sensor suitable for compact shaft assemblies and space-constrained applications. Its cylindrical plastic housing with mounting thread allows secure installation on machines, conveyor systems, and containers. Typical applications include detecting plastic packages in packaging machines, monitoring the fill level in containers made of non-conductive materials, or monitoring the presence of preforms in plastics processing.
Operation requires a DC power source in the range of 10 to 30 V. The NPN switching outputs can be connected directly to industrial control systems or microcontroller inputs with the appropriate voltage tolerance. A level shifter is required for 5 V logic.
Safety information
This sensor is intended exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development purposes and not for integration into household mains circuits. Work on high-voltage systems or at operating voltages above 60 V is reserved for qualified electricians; if you have questions about electromagnetic compatibility or safe integration into existing systems, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
