Product Description
A ball screw converts rotary motion into linear motion and is commonly used in machine axes, laboratory automation systems, and positioning devices. This version, with a nominal diameter of 16 mm and a 5 mm pitch, is used as a drive element in applications requiring fine feed motion or precise linear positioning.
Its operating principle is based on steel balls circulating in helical grooves, converting rotary motion into linear travel between the screw and the nut. This gives the screw very high efficiency and minimal friction compared with conventional trapezoidal threads. Wear is significantly reduced, enabling a long service life.
Typical applications include XY positioning devices for measuring microscopes, automated laboratory pipetting devices, printhead feed systems, and CNC control systems for small machines. These screws are also used in redirection mechanisms for measuring instruments when accuracy and repeatability are essential.
The screw is supplied without a nut or bearing blocks. Operation requires a suitable ball screw nut, shaft bearings on both sides, and a drive motor. The maximum achievable speed and load capacity depend on the bearing arrangement, motor power, and installation conditions.
Safety Information
The screw is a machine component and is not operated as a finished product. Work on the machine or device into which the screw is installed is reserved for qualified electricians; if you have questions about the screw's suitability for an application or about the safety of the overall system, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
