Product Description
A 12-segment LED bargraph displays measured values or operating states as a gradually rising or falling line of light. The module consists of two parallel rows with 12 LEDs each, which can be controlled individually or in groups. For example, a temperature can be represented by an increasing number of segments, from green through yellow to red, or a battery charge level can be viewed at a glance.
The LEDs require appropriate series-resistor sizing and a suitable power supply based on the desired brightness and the number of segments illuminated simultaneously. They can be controlled via microcontrollers or digital outputs, with each LED switched on and off individually. Operating multiple rows in parallel is possible, but requires sufficient output pins and current capacity.
In everyday laboratory use, this enables real-time display circuits for parameters such as light intensity, volume, or temperature. Charging progress, error rates, or slider positions can also be displayed as a growing bar of light. The linear arrangement eliminates the need for a fixed mounting assembly, and the segments can also fit into tight enclosures or on existing circuit boards.
Connection requires sufficient contacts on the control board. For higher brightness or switching frequencies, the use of transistor driver circuits is recommended to reduce the load on the microcontroller. The polarity of the LEDs and any voltage differences between the power supply and logic levels should also be taken into account.
