Product Description
An LED matrix with 64 individually controllable RGB pixels is ideal for visual feedback, display panels, and art installations. The pixels can be adjusted independently in terms of color and brightness, enabling animations, patterns, and graphic effects.
The modules use integrated LED drivers throughout, with each LED receiving its commands directly from the preceding LED and forwarding them to the next. This reduces the number of required signal lines to one. An external 5 V power supply is required for operation, as the Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins cannot provide enough power to operate all 64 LEDs at full brightness.
Common applications include data visualizations, playing fields for two-dimensional games, and informative displays for environmental sensors. A matrix can also form part of a room installation that responds to presence or time of day.
Standard Python libraries and many ready-made code examples make it easy to get started. A power supply rated at least 2 to 3 amperes is required for commissioning, depending on the desired number of pixels and brightness. The PCB's connection holes allow both direct wiring and the use of plug-in connectors.
Safety Notice
The external 5 V power supply must not be taken directly from the household mains; a power source intended for low-voltage circuits must be used. This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. Work on the power supply or the connection of high-power supplies must be carried out by qualified electricians; if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
