Product description
The module detects magnetic fields using a reed switch and outputs the result as a digital signal. The switch consists of two ferromagnetic contacts in a glass capsule that come together in a magnetic field and thereby close a circuit.
The output provides a digital HIGH or LOW signal that can be read directly by microcontrollers. The contactless operation eliminates any wear on buttons or mechanisms. The switching frequency is practically unlimited.
The module is suitable for door monitoring in security systems, position detection of moving parts, detecting valve positions, and recording rotary wheel sensors in counting applications. For example, in an automated warehouse monitoring system, the module reports when a magnetized container card reaches a specific position.
The operating voltage of 3.3 to 5 V makes the module a universal sensor for various microcontroller platforms. Only a suitable power supply is required for operation. The switch responds to magnetic field strength and proximity; the exact triggering distance depends on the field strength of the magnet used.
Safety information
This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in household electrical circuits. When used in safety-critical applications, the reliability of the system must be validated separately. If you have questions about integrating it into existing systems, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
