Product description

This temperature sensor measures temperatures using a K-type thermocouple and covers a range of -200 to +1250 °C. The thermocouple consists of two different metal wires that are soldered together at the measuring tip and generate an electrical voltage proportional to the temperature. This voltage is transmitted via the two-wire connecting cable to evaluation electronics, where it is converted into a temperature value.

The slim measuring tip, with a diameter of 5 mm, enables use in confined spaces and allows fast measurements in flowing fluids, gases, or through direct contact with solid surfaces. The 150 mm-long probe can be immersed directly in media or positioned against heat sources without delays caused by protective tubes.

Typical applications include process monitoring of heating elements, temperature control in reaction vessels during chemical or biological processes, and measuring exhaust gas temperatures in technical test setups. K-type sensors are also used in materials testing to document temperature gradients during heating.

Operation requires thermocouple evaluation electronics that support K-type thermocouples and convert the output voltage into temperature values. The connecting cable with plug is compatible with standardized thermocouple inputs on common data acquisition cards and measuring devices. For applications above 250 °C, the connecting cable and plug should be thermally insulated or positioned in a protected location.

The thermocouple itself does not generate electrical current, but it transmits small voltages to the evaluation electronics. When taking measurements in electrically active environments or in the immediate vicinity of high voltage, ensure that the probe does not come into contact with live parts.
