Product description
The sensor measures distances using infrared Time of Flight measurement and is suitable for obstacle detection, distance measurement in robots, and fill-level monitoring. The Time of Flight method emits short light signals and calculates the distance from their travel time, regardless of the surface of the measured object.
The sensor operates with voltages between 2.8 and 3.6 V and outputs the measured values via an I2C bus. This enables multiple sensors to be read in parallel on a microcontroller board without requiring additional connection wires. Measurements are performed without external calibration.
In the close range up to approximately 2 m, the sensor achieves a typical accuracy of 3 percent, making it suitable for indoor applications such as door activation, proximity detection in automated systems, or distance control in robotics projects. Contactless measurement of fill levels in containers is also possible.
The breakout board connects directly to a 3.3 V microcontroller; a level shifter is required when using 5 V logic. Operation requires only a power supply within the specified voltage range and an I2C connection.
Safety notice
The sensor is not intended for installation in household electrical circuits and is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. When working on or near electrical installations, consult a qualified electrician.
