Grove Water Sensor RC0603JR - water leak detector, digital and analog
This goes with it
Description
Grove – Water Sensor (RC0603JR) – Moisture Sensor
The sensor module can detect the presence of water using exposed traces on the circuit board. By measuring conductivity, it indicates whether the sensor is dry, damp, or fully immersed in water.
The sensor traces have a weak 1 MΩ pull-up resistor. The resistor raises the value of the sensor trace until a water droplet short-circuits the sensor trace to the grounded trace. The module works with the digital I/O pins of your Arduino, or you can use it with the analog pins to detect the contact caused by water between the grounded traces and the sensor traces.
Applications
- Rainfall detection
- Liquid leakage
- Tank overflow detector
Features
- Precise measurement: The sensor measures the number of water droplets or the water flow through a series of exposed parallel traces to determine the water level
- Digital output: It is easier to read the water/no-water status by evaluating the high and low levels
- Grove-compatible interface: The product ensures “plug and play” functionality and can be used flexibly for various Grove applications

What is Grove?
Grove makes it easier to connect and experiment while simplifying the prototyping process. No jumpers or soldering are required. More than 300 Grove modules have been developed, covering a wide range of applications and meeting a variety of requirements. Not only the hardware is open source, but also the software.
We offer various Grove Shields to enable connections to the Grove system with various microcontrollers.
