Product description
This 9-pin D-Sub female connector with solder cups serves as a connector for serial interfaces according to the RS232 standard. It is soldered directly onto the PCB, where it connects data devices, controller boards, or measurement modules to computers or other systems that use classic serial communication.
The D-Sub plug is inserted into the socket from the front and mechanically secured by the mounting screws on the sides. The wide solder-cup design ensures reliable electrical and mechanical connections on the PCB. The RS232 standard is widely used by many older industrial devices, programmable logic controllers, and embedded systems.
Typical applications include laboratory equipment, industrial control systems, medical measuring devices, or data loggers that need to communicate serially with computers. In retrofit projects, the socket replaces damaged connectors on existing PCBs. Operation requires a PCB with sufficiently large through-holes, and the data line must include at least three wires: transmit (TXD), receive (RXD), and signal ground (GND).
Safety information
Soldering with lead-free solder requires higher temperatures than soldering with leaded solder. The socket is intended exclusively for use in prototypes, testing, and development and is not suitable for the transmission of mains voltage. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians; consult a qualified electrician before commissioning if you are unsure about safe wiring.
