Product Description

This wireless module bridges distances in the 433 MHz license-free band and connects remote systems via a wireless serial interface. Communication is transparent: it is not a network gateway, but simply forwards data between RS232 or TTL connections. The module is suitable wherever a wired connection would be impractical and no Wi-Fi network is available.

The CC1101 transceiver transmits and receives in the ISM band without requiring an official frequency assignment. Its range is up to 300 meters in open areas and significantly shorter indoors, depending on wall materials. The data rate can be set between 1200 and 38400 baud to suit different requirements. Since the module operates with voltages between 3.3 and 5 V, it can connect boards with different logic levels directly; no level shifter is needed.

Use cases include wireless sensor networks, such as distributed temperature and humidity monitoring across a larger property, or a wireless connection between mobile measurement equipment and a stationary base station. It can also be used to remotely control switches or motors without a power line. Unlike Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, this solution uses significantly less energy, with idle current consumption below 1 mA.

Stable power supply with buffer capacitors is required because the transceiver draws current spikes when transmitting. A ready-made antenna is already attached to the module. For bidirectional wireless communication, both devices must use the same configuration. The serial connections do not provide true RS232 handshaking; they are simplified RX and TX lines at TTL levels.
