Product description
The arcade joystick is a mechanical input device for hobby electronics and robotics projects. It combines classic arcade design with digital switch inputs that can be connected directly to controller boards. Each direction and each button generates its own digital signal, providing maximum control over the program loop.
The module works on the principle of simple switches: movements and button presses open or close electrical circuits. This allows the input behavior to be adjusted in the code at any time without modifying the hardware. Multiple sticks can be operated in parallel because each input occupies a separate pin. The rubberized design withstands spills in laboratory environments and yields under load during extended use.
Typical applications include game-like controls for robots and vehicles, menu navigation in screen-based projects, and interfaces for prototype systems. A robotic arm, for example, can be controlled just as intuitively as a small mobile robot, because the stick enables continuous movement directions that the code converts into control pulses.
The joystick requires an external power supply on the input pins and works with 5 V logic as well as 3.3 V boards, provided that the pull-up resistors are selected accordingly. For stable operation, the signal lines should be kept short or routed with shielding, especially when several digital signals run close together.
Safety notice
This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It is not designed for installation in household electrical circuits or for operation at mains voltage. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians; if you are unsure about the power supply, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
