Product description

This LED matrix consists of 64 light-emitting diodes arranged in an 8*8 grid and is controlled by a MAX7219 driver chip. The module requires a 5 V power supply and can be connected to common microcontroller boards via the SPI interface. The integrated driver handles multiplexing, so the microcontroller does not need to control each pixel individually.

The 4-in-1 format allows multiple modules to be chained together to create a larger display without requiring additional driver chips. This makes it possible to display messages, animations, or measurement values as pixels. Operating all 64 LEDs simultaneously at maximum brightness requires approximately 300 mA, while power consumption is significantly lower with more economical use.

Applications range from simple project status indicators and animated displays to data visualizations such as bar charts or scrolling text. Typical uses include warning lights in automated setups, digital clocks, and small game boards.

In addition to a regulated 5 V power supply, operation requires the appropriate driver software for the microcontroller and connection cables with compatible connectors. Brightness can be adjusted in 16 steps via software. When operating continuously at maximum brightness, ensure that the power supply is adequately rated.

Safety notice

This module is not intended for installation in household electrical circuits and is intended solely for prototyping, testing, and development. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians. If you are unsure how to integrate it into existing power supplies, consult a qualified electrician before use.
