Product Description
A red single-digit 7-segment display shows digits from 0 to 9 as well as a decimal point and is suitable for simple numerical outputs in electronics projects. The device operates according to the LED principle: depending on the applied voltage, different segments light up to form the desired digit.
The display requires an operating voltage between 2 and 3.3 volts. This makes it directly compatible with the logic levels of modern microcontroller boards without additional voltage conversion. The common cathode means that all segments are connected via one line, while the individual anodes must be controlled through series resistors to prevent excessive current.
Typical applications include digital counters, timer displays, and simple measurement displays, such as for temperature or humidity. The single-digit version can also be used in clocks or digital displays for experiments when only individual digits need to be shown.
Series resistors are required for each anode segment, as well as a power supply within the rated range. The digit display requires external control logic that generates the bit pattern for each digit to be displayed. For multi-digit displays, several displays must be connected in parallel.
Safety Notice
The display is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in household mains circuits. Observe the polarity: connect the cathode to ground and connect the anode segments to the power supply through series resistors. If you are unsure about the control logic or dimensioning of the series resistors, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
