Product description

This wireless module bridges distances in the 433 MHz ISM band and connects remote systems via a wireless serial interface. Communication is transparent, not as a network gateway, but purely as data transfer between RS232 or TTL connections. The module is suitable wherever a wired connection would be impractical and no Wi-Fi network is available.

The CC1101 transceiver transmits and receives in the ISM band without requiring an official frequency allocation. Its range is up to 300 meters in open terrain and significantly shorter indoors, depending on the wall materials. The data rate can be set between 1200 and 38400 baud, allowing it to adapt to different requirements. Because the module operates with voltages between 3.3 and 5 V, it directly connects boards with different logic levels; no level shifter is required.

Applications include wireless sensor networks, such as distributed temperature and humidity monitoring across a larger property, or wireless connections between mobile measuring equipment and a stationary base station. It can also be used for remote control of switches or motors where no power line is available. Unlike Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, this solution requires significantly less energy; idle current consumption is below 1 mA.

Operation requires a stable power supply with buffer capacitors because the transceiver generates current surges when transmitting. A ready-made antenna is already installed on the module. For bidirectional wireless communication, both devices must use the same configuration. The serial connections are not a true RS232 handshake, but simplified RX and TX lines with TTL levels.
