Product description

A gear motor with a 90:1 reduction is suitable for drive applications that require low speed and high torque. The all-metal gearbox ensures stable power transmission under load, even over extended operating periods. The motor operates at 6 V DC; a power supply with sufficient current capacity is required, as gear motors draw high peak currents during startup and under load.

The high reduction ratio significantly reduces the output speed compared with an unregulated motor while multiplying the torque. This enables the drive of wheels, tracked systems, or conveyor mechanisms requiring substantial force. The advantage over direct motor drive is particularly evident in robotic systems designed for movement across floors.

The motor can be controlled using PWM controllers or H-bridge modules, which can also reverse the direction of rotation. The available force decreases proportionally if the power supply or controller cannot provide the required power. This type of motor is standard equipment for mobile rolling platforms, scale-model vehicles, or gripper assemblies in prototype applications.

Gear motors of this size operate reliably with standard controllers available on boards or as modules. Current draw under load must be taken into account; not every bench power supply can provide sufficient current, and the current required during startup and under resistance must be considered when sizing the controller. Inductive spikes occur when reversing the motor, making flyback diodes on the controller or equivalent protective measures necessary.

It must not be installed in household electrical circuits or existing installations connected to them.
