Product description
A 10 kOhm rotary potentiometer detects rotational inputs and converts them into variable voltages. Its horizontal design fits into low-profile housings and onto circuit boards with limited space, such as portable measuring instruments or compact control models. The potentiometer's wiper divides the applied voltage proportionally to the rotational position, so that the voltage at the tap between ground and the supply voltage is approximately half of it when the control is in the center position.
The potentiometer is particularly suitable as an input element for analog values. It can, for example, control the level in audio preamplifiers, adjust the brightness of LED arrays, or control the speed of drives in robotics learning projects. The potentiometer continuously reports its position via the wiper while it is being moved, without requiring calibration. The three connection pins follow the standard 2.54-mm pitch, allowing the component to fit directly into pin headers or solder points on circuit boards.
Its durability over several thousand rotation cycles also enables applications involving frequent operation. For signal conditioning, a capacitor of approximately 100 nF should be provided between the wiper and ground to reduce noise interference. The input voltage must not exceed 5 V.
Safety information
This component is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in household mains circuits. For all work on electrical installations, or if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
