Product Description
The bar graph displays measured values, levels, or progress as a luminous bar chart. Ten LED segments in four different colors light up individually or in groups, making it possible to display a value in ten levels, such as the charge level of a battery, the level of a tank, or the intensity of a sensor.
The display uses a common cathode. Each segment is controlled via its own connection pin and lights up when that pin is pulled to ground potential. With an operating voltage of 5 V, the display can be connected directly to common microcontroller boards without additional level shifting. The four colors are permanently assigned, typically three red segments, three yellow, two green, and two blue, enabling intuitive states such as safety or warning signals.
Applications include energy monitoring, noise level displays, light or humidity measurement in project setups, and any form of level visualization. The bar graph is particularly useful wherever rapid changes need to be visible, such as when a laboratory setup continuously monitors the fill level of a container.
Connection is made via eight connection pins, two of which are the common cathode. All eight pins must be connected; current-limiting resistors for the segments must be calculated and sourced separately. A 5 V power supply and a ground connection are required.
