Product description
This controller controls brushless DC motors and manages the current flow from multi-cell batteries within a power range typical for model aircraft and drones. The Electronic Speed Controller electronically commutates the motor windings, eliminating the need for external switching gear. The maximum current draw of 40 A sets the power limit; a different model is required for higher currents.
The controller accepts lithium batteries with two to six cells, enabling operating voltages between 7.4 and 22.2 V. An integrated voltage regulator generates 5 V for the receiver and servos, eliminating the need for an external power supply for these components. The speed is controlled via pulse-width modulation from the radio receiver or flight controller.
Typical applications include electrically powered model aircraft up to medium displacement, multicopters with up to four motors at this power level, and fast ground vehicles. Helicopter models with swashplate control require two or more of these controllers in parallel.
Commissioning requires a brushless motor, a radio receiver with a standard servo signal, and a suitable lithium battery. Programming is performed via the operating voltage or optionally via a USB interface. Incorrect battery polarity or improper motor wiring can cause reverse operation and accidents.
Safety notice
Check the polarity and motor wiring carefully before commissioning; incorrect polarity or faulty motor connections can lead to uncontrolled speed behavior. The device is not intended for use in household electrical installations and is exclusively intended for building and testing models. Any uncertainty regarding the wiring of the power supply and motor connections should be clarified with a qualified electrician before commissioning.
