Product description
A charge controller for lithium batteries regulates the charging process of battery systems with nominal voltages between 6 V and 60 V. The device operates on the principle of pulse-width modulation (PWM) and continuously adjusts the charging current to the battery status. When the battery is fully charged, the controller reduces the current to a maintenance charge.
The controller limits the charging current to a maximum of 30 A, protecting lithium cells from overcharging and thermal overload. The input circuit supports a maximum voltage of 60 V; higher voltages will damage the electronics. The integrated protection functions automatically interrupt the charging process in the event of critical voltages and short circuits.
Applications include stationary energy storage systems, solar installations with battery backup, rural power supplies without grid access, uninterruptible power supplies, and mobile workshops with an independent power supply. The controller can also be used to charge electric vehicles or e-bikes with lithium batteries when they are charged using solar or wind energy.
The controller is connected between the charging source and the battery. Depending on the system design, external control electronics may be required; the controller itself operates autonomously without a microcontroller. An operating voltage of at least 6 V is required to start charging.
