Product description

This addressable LED strip uses WS2812B chips to control each of the 60 LEDs per meter independently in terms of color and brightness. The milky-white silicone tube diffuses the light evenly, so individual light points are not visible. Data is transmitted serially via a single line, with each LED chip reading its data packet and forwarding the signal to the next LED. This allows many LEDs to be operated sequentially using just one digital output pin of a microcontroller.

The strip requires a stable 5 V power supply. On longer runs, the voltage drops due to resistance in the cable, so additional power injection at further points is recommended when connecting several meters together to prevent flickering or color distortion. The IP67 protection rating makes the strip resistant to dust and able to withstand brief contact with water; permanent underwater use is not intended.

Typical applications include decorative RGB effect lighting indoors, ambient lighting outdoors, and DIY lighting projects with Arduino or comparable boards. One specific example would be outlining a shelf with color-controllable lighting effects that can be changed synchronously via a program running on the connected microcontroller.

A microcontroller with a digital output pin for generating the signal is required. Common libraries generate the timing signal needed for the protocol. A separate 5 V power source is also required; the current consumption is up to 60 mA per LED at full white brightness.

Safety information

Permanent underwater use is not suitable; the product is designed for damp areas and brief contact with water. The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in the household power circuit. Work on electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians. If anything is unclear, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
