Product Description

This development board combines a WiFi-enabled microcontroller with a simple, web-based programming environment. The ESP8266 chip provides wireless networking functionality without additional modules and only requires a WLAN connection. The 3.3 V operating voltage means that connections to 5 V systems are only possible via a level shifter; conversely, 5 V sensors can be controlled directly when the board's outputs function as inputs.

The board is powered and programmed via Micro USB, so a separate programming device is not required. The memory is sufficient for small to medium-sized IoT applications; very large applications require external memory expansion. The eleven digital and analog outputs enable the simultaneous control of multiple sensors and actuators. I2C allows multiple modules to be operated on a single bus, saving connections.

Typical applications include WiFi-based temperature and humidity measurements in the home, remote control of switches and relays over the network, and the collection of sensor data for monitoring and smart home systems. The board is also suitable for building web-controlled robots and devices. For projects with multiple distributed sensors, the boards can serve as cost-effective nodes in a measurement network.

A WLAN connection must be available. A cable with a Micro-B plug is required for programming via USB. If the board is operated in areas with a weak WLAN signal, connection interruptions may occur.

Safety Information

The board is not intended for installation in the household electrical circuit and is intended exclusively for creating prototypes and for testing and development purposes. Direct connection to mains voltage is prohibited; work on or near household electrical installations is reserved for qualified electricians. If you are unsure about the power supply or network operation, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
