Product Description
The infrared transmitter sends signals at a 38 kHz carrier frequency, the standard for remote controls and IR communication. The fully assembled circuit board with an integrated LED and series resistor can be connected directly to controller boards or development boards. The control signal comes directly from the controller's output pin, so no separate driver chip is required.
The 38 kHz frequency is generated through external control, typically using PWM outputs or a timer output from the microcontroller. The transmitter works with standard logic levels, so no level shifter is required when it is operated with a 5 V board. It also remains functional with 3.3 V boards. The range of approximately 5 to 7 meters in a clear line of sight means that project setups for room control should be designed for short to medium distances.
Typical applications include controlling IR receivers to add remote-control functionality to devices, setting up test environments for IR communication protocols, or integrating the transmitter into robotics projects for wireless signal transmission between autonomous systems. The module also provides an affordable foundation for educational projects designed to explain infrared communication.
The module operates with logic supply voltages between 3.3 V and 5 V. A microcontroller or dedicated IR transmitter IC with the corresponding software or firmware is required to generate the 38 kHz carrier frequency. The circuit board is intended exclusively for laboratory setups and prototyping.
Safety Notice
The module must not be connected directly to the household power circuit and is intended exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development purposes. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Operating the module at voltages outside the specified range may damage the infrared LED; if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
