Product Description
The Ethernet module with W5500 chipset connects microcontroller boards to local networks or the Internet via a wired connection. The integrated TCP/IP stack handles the communication protocols, allowing the control logic to focus on the application. The module connects via SPI and requires only a few control signals.
Since the supply voltage is 3.3 V, the module is directly compatible with modern boards using this logic-level voltage. For operation with 5 V boards, level shifting on the SPI lines is required. The network connection is made via an RJ45 connector, enabling direct connection to switches, routers, or wall sockets with standard cabling.
Applications include data loggers that send measured values to the network, IoT prototypes with remote access, or local control systems that can be operated from the same network. The module can also serve as an interface to web-based services, for example when a sensor needs to transmit its data to a cloud service.
A microcontroller or single-board computer with available SPI pins is required, along with knowledge of the board's voltage levels. A network cable with RJ45 connectors is required separately. The module is intended exclusively for prototypes and testing purposes and requires basic knowledge of programming network communication.
