Product Description
This CAN bus transceiver connects a CAN controller to the physical bus line. The module with the TJA1050 chip converts the simple logic signals of a microcontroller into the differential voltage format of the CAN bus and vice versa. On one side are the two CANH and CANL connections for the bus line; on the other side are TX, RX, VCC, and GND for the controller.
The differential transmission method makes the connection resistant to electromagnetic interference, which is why CAN bus systems are widely used in vehicles and industrial control networks. The TJA1050 itself does not process the CAN protocol; it is solely responsible for the electrical adaptation between the logic levels and the bus voltages.
The module is used in vehicle communication networks, where multiple control units exchange data over a shared line, as well as in industrial sensor networks and automation systems. Operation requires a supply voltage between 4.75 and 5.25 V and a separate CAN controller such as the MCP2515, which generates and evaluates the data frames. Pin headers with a 2.54-mm pitch enable connection to standard circuit boards.
Safety Information
The module is not intended for installation in household electrical circuits and is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. Work on or near vehicle electrical systems or industrial control systems must be carried out by qualified electricians; if you have questions about integration into existing systems, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
