Product description
The TMP36GT9Z temperature sensor generates an analog voltage that changes linearly with temperature. Unlike digital sensors, it does not output a data protocol, but rather a voltage that can be connected directly to an ADC input of a microcontroller.
The operating principle is simple: At 0 °C, the sensor delivers 500 mV; at 25 °C, 750 mV. The output voltage increases by 10 mV for each degree Celsius. This makes it possible to calculate the temperature without lookup tables or external calibration. Measurement accuracy is ±3 °C within the specified range. Since the quiescent current is low, the sensor is also suitable for battery-powered systems with minimal self-heating.
The three-lead TO-92 plastic package is compact and easy to integrate into circuits. The sensor is used for temperature monitoring in battery management, climate control systems, and industrial controllers where fast, straightforward measurements without protocol overhead are required.
The sensor requires a supply voltage between 2.7 and 5.5 V and can be connected directly to the ADC inputs of microcontrollers. The measurement range extends from -40 °C to +125 °C, although temperatures above 125 °C up to 150 °C can only be measured with reduced accuracy.
Safety information
The sensor is not intended for installation in household mains circuits and is intended exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development purposes. If you are unsure about the correct sizing of the supply voltage or signal processing, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
