Product description
A step-up voltage converter generates the regulated 5 V that many sensors and microcontroller boards require from a low input voltage. The module uses a switching regulator topology to boost voltages from 0.9 V while keeping the output voltage constant. The input voltage can range from 0.9 to 5 V, while the output voltage remains buffered at 5 V regardless of the input voltage. The maximum available current is 600 mA, which is sufficient for many applications.
This module is used wherever weak power sources such as battery packs, energy harvesting systems, or low-voltage USB inputs need to supply power. A typical scenario is operating sensors or small controllers from two AA cells, whose voltage decreases over time but which need to provide a constant 5 V. The converter compensates for these fluctuations and reliably supplies the required operating voltage without requiring external capacitors or resistors to be calibrated.
The output voltage is internally calibrated to 5 V and cannot be changed. This module is not designed for loads exceeding 600 mA. Operation requires a regulated input voltage source and an input capacitor for interference suppression; details can be found in the module's circuit diagram. If the output load is less than 100 mA, the converter offers particularly stable operation.
