Product description
This DC-DC voltage converter boosts a lower input voltage to a higher, regulated output voltage. The module uses a switching regulator together with an inductor and diode to temporarily store energy from the input and provide it at the output with increased voltage. The 1.2 MHz switching frequency enables very small components and therefore an extremely compact design.
The output voltage is not set with a regulator but determined by solder jumpers A and B on the PCB. Depending on which points are connected with solder, one of four possible voltages is produced. The module is supplied from the factory configured to 12 V. An LED indicates during operation that the module is active.
The device is suitable wherever a battery or rechargeable battery needs to provide a higher operating voltage for other components, for example for LED circuits requiring more than the available battery voltage, or for microcontroller projects that require 9 V or 12 V. Operation with 3.7 V lithium cells is also possible and then provides the correspondingly reduced output current, depending on the selected voltage.
It is important that the input voltage always remains below the output voltage set by the solder jumper. Otherwise, voltage boosting cannot take place. Only the input and output connections are required for operation; the power supply is connected directly from outside.
