Product Description
The rotary potentiometer on a circuit board detects control positions and outputs them as a proportional voltage. The rotary movement of the slider is converted into a continuous value between 0 and 5 V, with the output voltage corresponding to the set resistance value. This operating principle enables direct detection of adjustment positions without additional electronics.
The circuit board already contains the voltage divider element, so only the supply voltage (typically 5 V), ground, and output pin need to be connected. This makes it particularly easy to integrate the module into prototypes that use analog inputs, eliminating the need for calibration. The output voltage follows the rotation angle linearly and is immediately suitable for measurement by the analog-to-digital converters of common microcontrollers.
In practice, such a potentiometer can be used to control motor speeds or adjust LED brightness. It is also suitable as an interface for measurement data acquisition or as an input element in test setups. A typical scenario would be variable control of a servo motor through potentiometer rotation in a prototype setup.
Operation requires a power supply within the range of the desired output voltage. The output connection should be connected to a high-impedance analog-to-digital input of a microcontroller to prevent current draw by the measurement electronics. The circuit board defines the mechanical mounting and positioning.
Safety Information
The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in household electrical circuits. Work on or in the immediate vicinity of electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians; if there is any uncertainty about integration into higher-level systems, a qualified electrician must be consulted before commissioning.
