Product description
The NEMA17 stepper motor is driven via discrete coils and is suitable for precise positioning tasks in motion control applications such as robotics, 3D printing, or laboratory automation. The four connection wires enable bipolar operation, in which both coil phases are alternately energized.
The holding torque of 0.48 Nm is sufficient for light to medium loads, for example to drive print heads or position sensors. In full-step operation, the motor reaches up to 3000 revolutions per minute. Gearboxes are used for higher torque; microstepping can be considered for finer resolution, but it reduces the effective speed.
Control requires a bipolar stepper motor driver that switches the coil windings against the supply voltage. The driver must be rated for a phase current of at least 1.68 A. The coil impedance of 2.8 Ω, together with the supply voltage, determines the maximum achievable current and therefore the available torque.
The motor is supplied with a 0.4 m connection cable; longer connections to the driver are possible, but require thicker wires to limit voltage drops. A gearbox, gear, or coupling to the target gearbox is not included. The motor is operated from DC voltage sources between approximately 12 V and 24 V; higher voltages enable faster step sequences but also place greater demands on the driver.
Safety information
The device is not designed for operation in household electrical installations and is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. The power supply must be provided from outside the household electrical circuit. Consult qualified electricians before commissioning if you have questions about voltage selection or connection to the mains.
