Product description
This geared motor combines a small DC motor with a metal gearbox in a brass housing. Its key feature is the output shaft: instead of a smooth shaft, it has a 55 mm-long M3 threaded rod that directly converts rotary motion into linear motion. When an M3 nut is placed on the threaded rod and secured against rotation, it moves forward or backward as the motor turns, depending on the direction of rotation.
The internal gearbox converts the motor's high speed into lower output speeds with higher torque. The motor is operated via two solder tabs on the motor housing. The polarity of these connections determines the direction of rotation; reversing it simply requires swapping the poles. The available variants cover a voltage range of 3 to 12 V and output speeds of 15 to 1000 rpm, so you can choose the right version for your needs.
Two M1.6 threaded holes in the housing allow it to be rigidly mounted to brackets or frames while the threaded rod performs the linear movement. Applications include small sliding and lifting movements in robotics projects, model making, and prototyping, especially where space is limited. A typical example is a miniature robotic slider that needs a single motor to provide several millimeters of linear motion at a constant speed.
An appropriately sized M3 nut is required to convert the rotary motion, along with a mechanism to prevent rotation. A power supply within the specified voltage range and simple circuitry to control polarity are sufficient for operation.
Safety notice
These motors are intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes, not for installation in household mains circuits. The moving threaded rod and rotating motor gearbox pose a risk of injury; appropriate mechanical guards are required. If you are unsure about electrical commissioning, consult a qualified electrician before connecting the motor.
