Product Description
A mini motor siren for 12 V generates acoustic alarm signals with a long range. The device operates according to the motor bell principle: a rotating interrupter produces rhythmic strikes against a bell, creating the characteristic wailing sound. With approximately 95 dB at a distance of one meter, the siren is suitable for attention-getting functions where audible range is more important than continuous volume.
The 12 V power supply requires a suitable external source, such as a battery pack or power supply unit. When connected directly to 5 V logic systems, a relay or transistor is required to isolate the control signal from the higher power consumption. The two-pole terminal board enables secure, repeatable screw connections without soldering.
In projects, the siren serves as a warning signal in security systems or for clearly audible alarm announcements during automated processes. A weather station could activate the device when extreme values are detected, a door monitoring system could use it for intrusion alerts, or it could complement mobile robots with an acoustic collision warning. The robust plastic design withstands moisture and dirt, while the mounting eyelet allows flexible installation.
Operation requires a dedicated 12 V power source with a capacity of at least 0.5 A. Modern microcontroller boards cannot provide this power directly, so a relay or semiconductor switch must be connected between them. The siren requires sufficient clearance around it; the motor bell principle does not work reliably in confined spaces.
Safety Information
The siren is not intended for installation in household mains circuits and is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. When used as a warning signal in production systems, verify in advance whether the regulatory requirements for alarm signals are met. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
