Product description

A shaft coupling connects two drive shafts when they are not precisely aligned. The elastomer element dampens vibrations and accommodates misalignment that occurs during installation, as long as the axles are not perfectly parallel and concentrically aligned. In this way, the coupling reduces loads on bearing points and drive systems.

The elastomer core transmits torque without play and without wear. The metal elements grip both shafts, while a clamping connection without keys or pins keeps the system reliably operational. The elastomer absorbs shocks during startup or sudden load changes, significantly increasing the service life of the motor and gearbox.

Shaft couplings are used in small drive trains such as robot axes, in 3D printers to connect the motor shaft and lead screw, and wherever the motor and load are not mounted directly next to each other. They are also used in laboratory measuring devices or experimental setups to compensate for imbalances.

For operation, secure fixation on the drive shaft is required, and the screws must be tightened flush. The torque varies depending on the size, as does the permissible maximum misalignment; therefore, the specific version should match the motor power and the geometry of the setup.
